ELECTRICIAN WORKING ON POWER LINES IN KYOTO
Japanese streets are famously crowded with dense, chaotic network of overhead power lines and utility poles, a system stemming from post-WWII reconstruction that prioritized speed, lower costs, and ease of repair after frequent earthquakes.
I have walked many such Japanese streets but I have never witnessed a Japanese electrician working on the power lines until that sunny day. On that bright cool day of autumn, as I explored Kyoto neighborhood, I was so grateful to see this rare street moment.
