My HASA road bike has been placed at home collecting dust for few months now. Since May 8, I have not been running or exercising except running 2 back to back full marathons on May 21 and May 28. Other days? Stayed lazy for full recoevery from ITB band injury.
But you know once you stop exercising, the body gets rather lazy. And heavier too!!! My body weight doesn't lie! I have put on some weight. lol! For the last 2 Sundays, I already attempted to wake up early and drag my lazy body to start exercising again. But I failed in both Sundays.
I was glad yesterday I woke up early because I didn't sleep well. That gave me a chance not to be lazy but to go out to smell the fresh air on the cool morning!!
Boy! Was I glad I came out of the house with my HASA bike to cycle at KL Car Free Morning.
Due to fasting month, there were not many participants on this KL Car Free Morning which is held every 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month.
But that was just the way I like it. Less crowd. More fresh air. And more road to myself! lol!
I have run along this 6.5 km route before but I never cycled here. Hence, yesterday's cycling at KL Car Free Morning was a new, fresh, awesome experience! Just nice for me to start slow into the mood of exercising again.
Start / Finish: Dataran DBKL and Dataran Merdeka
I arrived at Start / Finish area Dataran DBKL and Dataran Merdeke at 7am. I was really surprised that there were not many cyclists, joggers, runners, roller skateboarders, etc. But no complaints! I enjoyed the "empty streets" of downtown KL. 😋
There was a corner with free bicycles for rent sponsored by OCBC. There was also a corner with free 100 Plus. How wonderful!!

I love this route - covering about 6.5 km distance in one loop. This route brings runners, cyclists, skateboaders through many interesting and beautiful city landmarks of KL, notably- Parkson @ Maju Junction
- Hard Rock Cafe, Concord Hotel
- Shangri-la Hotel
- Suria KLCC
- Petronas Twin Tower
- Renaissance Hotel
- Malaysia Tourism Centre
- Sheraton Hotel
- Quill City Mall,
- SOGO shopping complex
- Dataran Merdeka
Beautiful loop - 6.5 km of it - passing through some beautiful city landmarks including Petronas Twin Tower . |
KL Car Free Morning attracted all people from all ages. It's truly a fun-filled, healthy activity for all. |
With Dataran Merdeka as back drop, mother and son cycled on the car free Jalan Raja Laut. |
Highlight - Petronas Twin Tower
Of course, one of the most beautiful city skyscrapers in Kuala Lumpur is the majestic, towering Petronas Twin Tower. Many runners, cyclists and sports enthusiasts love to stop there to take photos. It's rare to have such golden opportunity when you have the whole street to yourself to laugh with friends, to take photos, etc.
No exception for me! :) I actually cycled three loops and I stopped here at Petronas Twin Tower all three times. 😃 Can you imagine that? That shows how magnetic Petronas Twin Tower can be to me!
Since it was a leisure ride for me, I took all the time to really enjoy the beautiful scenery of Kuala Lumpur.
I took this photo because I wanted to capture the two persons on wheel chair with Petronas Twin Tower as backdrop!! I salute to them for the courage, inspiration to all of us! |
Yes - a picture with the beautiful Petronas Twin Tower and my HASA road bike. |
Look Up to the sky!!! Move forward!! |
3 loops with the car parked at Padang Merbuk, I rode an easy 21 km on this cool, wonderful morning. |
